Blackburn boss Paul Ince is hoping injured striker Roque Santa Cruz will not be forced to travel to South America for international duty.

Santa Cruz has been named in the Paraguay squad for the up-coming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Peru.

However, the former Bayern Munich man is doubtful for both games after picking up a hamstring problem during Blackburn's defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

Santa Cruz was forced to limp off just after half-time during Blackburn's 2-0 loss at Ewood Park and Ince hopes the forward is allowed to stay in England to undergo treatment on the injury.

"He's done his hamstring," Ince told the club's official website.

"We are hoping he doesn't have to travel to Paraguay. We will speak to their doctor.

"It's a stupid rule, he did the same against West Ham when he injured his Achilles and he then had to jump on a plane for 14 hours so we are trying to prevent that, but you just don't know what is going to happen."
