Nelsen: Demanding improvement
Ryan Nelsen has admitted that the number of 'ridiculous' mistakes Blackburn are making is getting under his skin.
Rovers have slipped into the Premier League relegation places on the back of an eight-game run without a win, during which they have picked up just three points from a possible 24.
Martin Olsson was at fault in the defeat at Tottenham at the weekend, gifting possession to Aaron Lennon to set up Roman Pavlyuchenko for the only goal of the game before seeing red for two bookable offences on the Spurs winger.
And New Zealand centre-back Nelsen insists the errors which have plagued the club all season have to be stamped out.
"You can't fault the work ethic but one mistake cost us a goal and cost us the game," he told Rovers World.
"It has been happening all season. We have just got to cut it out - it is absolutely ridiculous.
"It is very annoying at the moment and then, when we get chances, we are not putting them away either.
"Not very many teams have had to win games against us this season because we've given teams games with silly mistakes.
"We have got to stop making these mistakes and start grinding out results."
Rovers head to Portsmouth on Sunday and Nelsen insists they have to get something out of the match to stop the rot.
Only West Brom are below them in the table but a win for the Baggies at Wigan on Saturday would put Rovers bottom.
"You never like looking up but it just means we have to start getting points and getting them quick," the 31-year-old added.
"We are in an awkward position now. There is a still a long way to go but come next Sunday against Portsmouth we are going to be determined to get points.
"It (the win-less run) is killing us at the moment. We need to get the winning feeling back and get it back quick. We need to win ugly maybe and stop feeling sorry for ourselves.
"We have to get in to training, work hard and I think everyone can't wait until Sunday."
