David Dunn is relieved the snub he once delivered to Sam Allardyce has not come back to haunt him.

The Blackburn Rovers favourite came within minutes of signing for Bolton from Birmingham - during Allardyce's tenure at the Reebok Stadium two years ago.

Dunn had even been donning the Bolton training kit as he sat in his agent's office waiting to drive to the Reebok to sign a contract, before Blackburn called.

Allardyce was furious at the time on missing out on a deal he had spent weeks putting together.

And Dunn was fearful that his current boss would gain revenge by omitting the 28-year-old from the Rovers side.

Relief

"I was relieved to see Sam doesn't bear a grudge with me over the way I snubbed him and Bolton in favour of a return to Rovers two years ago," Dunn told the Daily Star Sunday.

"In fact, when he saw me at the training ground on his first day he stopped me for a chat.

"He said it was nice to see me again and then a big smile broke out on his face."

Dunn is now focused on getting Blackburn out of the bottom three as they try to put Paul Ince's short reign behind them.

"I feel we let Paul Ince down and we must dig ourselves out of the hole we are in."
