Jason Roberts believes Blackburn can avoid the Premier League drop as there is a new belief in the squad.

Rovers are unbeaten in three games since new boss Sam Allardyce took over from Paul Ince, following up a win over Stoke with successive draws with Sunderland and Man City.

But it could have been even better for Blackburn as they threw away potential victories in the draws, leaving them still languishing in the relegation zone.

But Roberts feels the side will be okay as there is belief at Ewood Park.

"If we carry on like this there won't be a problem," Roberts told the club's official website.

Belief

"There is a belief in the squad that we have not had before.

"We look like a different team. We look like a team that believes 100 per cent in what they are doing.

"We are unified and if we carry on like we did for the first 85 minutes against City, we will win the majority of games."

Roberts paid tribute to his strike partner Benni McCarthy after the pair both scored in the draw against Man City.

"We just try to stay close," he said.

"I was digging the ball out to give myself a shot but Benni nipped in to score, which was fantastic.

Top class

"He is a top class player and although I am always wary of saying too much because we have other good players at the club, I am enjoying playing with him."

Meanwhile, manager Allardyce is focussing on keeping the players upbeat after seeing his side throw away four points in the last two games.

"Tactically we were almost perfect against City," he said.

"But the Premier League is very punishing. The opposition is just waiting for a small opportunity and we provided it for them.

"We have made life very difficult for ourselves.

"We just have to make sure psychologically it doesn't knock the players back down again."
