South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena insists securing first-team football next season is his main priority.

The midfielder stated last week that he was ready to quit Blackburn at the end of the season, with his current deal set to expire in the summer.

Rovers are keen for him to remain, but a number of Premier League clubs including Stoke and Fulham are also understood to be ready to offer him terms.

Mokoena, though, is firmly focused on maintaining his place in the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the World Cup finals next year.

The chance to captain his country as they host the World Cup is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any player and Mokoena realises this.

"Next season is very important for me and my country, and we need to be ready for the World Cup," he told skysports.com.

"If you are not a regular in your team the coach might not call you in the squad. So I will do everything to play regularly."
