Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce says David Dunn will not be risked for Saturday's clash with Hull City.

Dunn has been struggling with a calf injury he picked up against Stoke two weeks ago and will not be ready to return for the game at the KC Stadium.

However, Allardyce is hopeful the midfielder will be fit and ready to travel to St Andrews to face Birmingham on Tuesday.

"He was looking good until Wednesday but it looks like he might have overdone it a touch and just felt the calf again," Allardyce told the club's official website.

"So I don't think that we'll risk him this weekend in the hope that we might get him back for Birmingham in midweek, and from there on the very heavy schedule we have over Christmas and January.

"It should have cleared up by now, but sometimes niggles with David last a little bit longer than other people. That is just the make-up of the person, when you've had a few injuries like David has you get a little bit more apprehensive and worried about it.

"But certainly there isn't any point in taking any chances because if he came back in too soon and it went again then he'd be out for a lot longer, so we'll be as careful as we need to be until he says he's 100% fit."
