Barry: Unsettled

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has stated the club will hold talks with Gareth Barry once the Premier League season concludes.

O'Neill has revealed speculation over Barry's long-term future at Villa Park has unsettled the England international in recent weeks.

Liverpool are long-term admirers of the 27-year-old and O'Neill recently confirmed the Reds had made a 'mish-mash' offer for the midfielder.

Focus

With Villa still in the hunt for fifth spot in the table, O'Neill wants Barry to focus on his football before holding further talks on his future after the final game of the season away to Aston Villa on Sunday.

"I've spoken to Gareth and we will have further discussions when the season is over," O'Neill said.

"He felt himself that he had been affected by the speculation. He felt it had affected his own game a little bit.

"He wouldn't want that to happen again with such an important game coming up on Sunday so we will speak again next week."
