Pavel Srnicek and Peter Ramage have both stated their desire to move on and learn from the horrible blunder which contributed to Newcastle's 2-1 defeat to Bolton on Boxing Day.

The Magpies were winning 1-0 when Ramage headed back to his keeper whilst unaware that Srnicek had already advanced out of his goal, and saw the ball cross the line for a comical own goal.

Nicolas Anelka went on to compound the North East club's misery with the winning goal, and Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder claimed after the game that Ramage had been pushed by Bolton skipper Kevin Nolan at the crucial moment.

Whilst Ramage admits he was unaware of any push from Nolan, the 23-year-old defender did signal his desire to put the gaffe behind him and learn from his costly error.

"Football is all about learning and I am still a young man learning my trade. And not only will I learn from this but this will make me stronger," Ramage told The Evening Chronicle.

"The ball came over and I turned to head it back to Pavel Srnicek not realising that he had already come out.

"People are now telling me that the TV replays are showing that I was pushed in the back by Kevin Nolan, but I have to be honest and say I wasn't really aware of this.

"And while hindsight is a wonderful thing, I know I should have dealt with the situation a lot better."

The humiliating turn of events wrecked Srnicek's first Newcastle start since 1997 after returning to the club, and the Czech shot-stopper was also keen to put the incident behind him following the defeat.

"I didn't call for the ball because I was waiting for Rammy to do something," explained Srnicek.

"Then in the end I thought I'd try to get it but it ended up going on. It was a mistake between us and we have to move on from it and learn from it."
