Shay Given has conceded it has been 'tough times' at Newcastle in recent weeks.

The Magpies are currently without a manager after Kevin Keegan's shock resignation earlier this month.

Keegan's departure has provoked outrage on Tyneside with fans venting their anger at Magpies owner Mike Ashley.

Fans are expected to stage a protest ahead of this weekend's game with Hull and Given says he is unsure what the future holds for the club.

"We will see what happens in the next couple of days," Given told Sky Sports News. "Obviously we have got to prepare for Hull now on Saturday, it is a big game for us and it has been tough times back at Newcastle.

Focus

"But I have been concentrating on these games [with Republic of Ireland] and now I will have to focus my time back on Newcastle now."

Given refused to be drawn on Newcastle's hunt for a new manager with Paul Ince and Dick Advocaat the latest names to be linked with the role as well as bookies' favourite Gus Poyet.

"I don't know [about a new manager], I have not spoken to many people from the club or even players for that matter so i cannot really comment on that and I am likely to meet up with the lads in the next few days and take it from there," concluded Given.
