Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is hoping his side can keep up with the relentless nature of the Championship.

Hughton admits the extra games in the Championship, compared to the Premier League, do take their toll on his players.

Newcastle have taken just a point from their last two games, but Hughton says his players have to battle through their blips.

"It is relentless, the games, but from our point the only advantage is that it is the same for every club," he told Sky Sports News.

"Perhaps we would have had more time for preparation and more time to reflect on games last season, but this season is different when you're on the back of a win or a loss your straight into another game.

"Our form this season, we have done well enough to maintain where we have been and there have been high and lows. The most important thing for us is that in those periods we are not playing well, that we get something out of the games.

"We have to make sure we take advantage of the good periods we have."
