Motherwell's highly-rated defender Mark Reynolds has conceded he would consider a move away from the club this summer.

The 22-year-old has one year left on his Fir Park contract and has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Newcastle United.

Reynolds has no qualms about seeing out the remainder of his Motherwell contract, although that would mean he would then become a free agent.

With Craig Brown's side possibly missing out on a transfer fee next summer they could decide to strike a deal for his services at the end of the season.

Reynolds has hinted the time has come to move on as he feels he has achieved all he can with the SPL outfit.

See what happens

"It's out of my hands," he told the Northern Echo. "I have a year left at Motherwell and we need to see what happens in the summer.

"If someone comes in, it would be something I'd have to consider.

"I have played four years at Motherwell and been involved in practically every game in that period. That's 170-odd games and two European campaigns. There is not much left to do.

"That's no disrespect to the club but as a player you always want to go and test yourself at the highest level. For me, that point might come this summer.

"Next year, I will be 24 and the club wouldn't receive any compensation for me if I was to move then.

"If the club want to cash in, as it were, and get the money for bringing me through then the summer would be the optimum time to do that."
