Andy Carroll has pledged his future to Newcastle following the club's promotion to the Premier League.

The striker made an instant impact for the St James' Park side in the Championship, scoring an impressive 17 league goals to help the club secure an immediate return to the top division.

The 21-year-old has been recently linked with a summer move to Stoke and with Newcastle boss Chris Hughton not having the cash to fund summer spending, it has emerged that he may have to generate cash by selling some of his prized assets.

Gateshead-born Carroll said: "I think most people know that I don't want to leave.

"It's always been my ambition to play for Newcastle United and score goals at St James' Park, and that's what I have been able to do."

The powerful forward is hopeful of staying at his boyhood club, saying: "I have always said that if I get the opportunities to play, I will score goals, and hopefully that continues.

"I have been at Newcastle since I was 10 and I'm totally committed."
