George Burley is keen to bring Premier League youngsters Nile Ranger and Ryan McGivern to Crystal Palace on loan.

Newcastle United striker Ranger and Manchester City full-back McGivern are both expected to struggle for regular first-team football in the top flight this season.

Ranger has been tipped to leave Newcastle on loan to build up his first-team experience and has now emerged as a target for Palace.

McGivern, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City, has attracted interest from Oldham Athletic, but could have the option of another stint in the Championship.

Burley has confirmed his interest in the duo and is now waiting to see whether his enquiries will come to fruition.

"I have spoken to Newcastle about Ranger and he is one we're looking at," the Palace boss told the South London Press. "We need to bring in another striker.

"Ryan is another that has been mentioned. We've made no secret that we are trying to bring a left-back in and he is on our list."
