Eriksson: Ecstatic
Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson admitted his side were slightly lucky to beat rivals Manchester United.
Geovanni's goal separated the two sides at Eastlands, although the result was not a true reflection of the game as United dominated for large periods but were unable to breakdown a strong City defence.
City claimed their third win of the new season and Eriksson is delighted with the dream start his side have made to the campaign.
"It's fantastic," he told Sky Sports. "This was a very, very difficult game.
"We were lucky as well, if it had been on possession or shots on target we would have lost but we are happy today because it's the goal which counts.
"It was a battle but we defended very well.
"We won the game and three wins, it's very, very good and I hope we can go on like this.
"It's good to have a good start when you have so many new players and of course the confidence goes higher and higher."
Eriksson reserved special praise for the performances of centre-backs Micah Richards and Richard Dunne and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
"I must say we defended extremely well, the whole backline, but in particular the two centre-halves were fantastic and the young goalkeeper we have he's doing a great job," he said.
"Three games and three clean sheets, you can't complain about that."
Meanwhile, the Swede is still looking to add to his summer signings before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Eriksson added: "I hope so, I hope that we can take in one or two others but we have to do it quickly or it's too late."
