Eriksson: Uncertain future

Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has insisted that he has not yet made a decision on Sven Goran Eriksson.

The Swede's future has been the subject of speculation since reports emerged suggesting that Shinwatra was considering other options.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been strongly linked with the position while Jose Mourinho's name has also been mentioned.

Shinwatra has spoken openly about other managers but has also maintained that he will not make his next move until after Sunday's final game of the season.

"There will be an evaluation at the end of the season of what needs to be changed, what needs to be added to the success of the club," said Shinawatra.

Asked about the managerial position, he added: "We have not decided yet. All of them - Sven, Scolari, Mourinho - they are all great coaches, great managers.

"We will discuss all of this at the end of the season."

Benfica talks

Eriksson confirmed on Thursday that he had held talks with Benfica over possibly taking charge at the Portuguese club.

Benfica initially stayed quiet on the link but it now appears more likely that Eriksson could be heading back to the club for a third spell as manager.

Benfica have said in a statement to the Lisbon Stock Exchange that 'preliminary talks' have begun with Eriksson.

The brief statement added that 'so far, no contractual details - namely, pay and length of contract -- have been discussed'.
