Eriksson: On Tour

Sven Goran Eriksson is tipping Manchester City to shine in the future after the club's post-season tour of Asia came to an end.

Eriksson, whose days in charge of City are reportedly numbered, saw a relatively inexperienced City side slump to 3-1 loss to a South China Invitational XI on Thursday.

It is claimed that the match may have been the Swede's final game in charge, but rather than discuss his future, Eriksson has turned attentions towards the team's potential.

"City have always had good young players and the youth team won the FA Youth Cup, beating Chelsea, and the future is good," he said.

In need of a break

"In the squad, I believe that someone has the chance, but I suppose it depends very much on pre-season.

"One or two, maybe all of them, will have the chance in the future. I think it was very useful for the young players we have - it's good for them.

"I'm disappointed that we lost [against South China Invitational XI], but the most important thing is that we tried to play good football."

"It has been a very, very long season for all of us, especially for a lot of young players and a lot of new players in the Premier League. I think everybody looks forward to a break now."
