Nery Castillo looks as though he could be on his way out of Manchester City after declaring his interest in a move to Spain.

The Mexico international, on-loan at Eastlands from Shakhtar Donetsk, has struggled to recapture his best form since moving to England in a loan switch.

Brought to the club by then manager Sven Goran Eriksson in January, Castillo faces an uncertain future as new boss Mark Hughes looks to make a quick assessment of his playing ranks.

Brazilian striker Jo is expected to wrap up his move from CSKA Moscow in the next few weeks, while Hughes already has the likes of Benjani Mwaruwari, Valeri Bojinov and Daniel Sturridge to choose from.

Bernardo Corradi, Rolando Bianchi and Georgios Samaras are all likely to be deemed surplus to requirements, with Castillo - whose loan spell ends in December - now casting doubts over his own future.

"I have a 50 per cent chance of moving to Spain," he is quoted as saying in the Manchester Evening News.

"I know that such teams as Villarreal, Valencia and Real Betis are interested."
