Bojinov: No luck with injuries
Valeri Bojinov has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City after insisting he is more than content to stay at Eastlands.
The finish post is finally in sight for the Bulgarian, as he looks to draw a line under a horrific 11 months which have seen him sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.
Despite having made just three appearances for City, two of which came off the substitutes' bench, Bojinov has been linked with a return to Serie A, where he previously plied his trade with Lecce and Fiorentina.
However, contrary to any such reports, Bojinov is determined to prove himself to new manager Mark Hughes and embrace a fresh start in Manchester.
"I have seen the stories and no I don't want to move back to Italy," he told the club's official website.
"I'm happy in Manchester and want to stay because City is a very important club. After a year of injuries, I'm happy because the club and the manager have given me a chance to stay at City.
"I don't want to go to Italy because I want to play for Manchester City, the fans and for myself, in the Premier League. The Premier League is very important and I want to show the new manager what I can do."
Bojinov is currently nursing a slight thigh muscle problem but rehabilitation work on his knee is going well and two goals in three reserve games bodes well for the future.
He is not, though, getting carried away with his current fitness levels; well aware that he is still some way short of being ready for first-team football.
"I'm happy to have played and scored at that level, but it's very different playing for the reserves, and then playing for the first team.
"In the first team you play in the Premier League and it is a very big competition. It's important because I want the fans to see me score and do well for City and my team-mates."
