Manchester City striker Ched Evans hopes to use the experience of his full Premier League debut to fire Wales Under 21s towards the Uefa Championship finals.

Evans was thrown into City's starting line-up for Sunday's 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa with only a three minute warning following Valeri Bojinov's Achilles injury.

And 19-year-old Evans is hopeful he can use the experience to help Wales U21s in their bid to reach next summer's Uefa Championships in Sweden.

Evans, who impressed while on loan at Norwich last season, will lead the Wales line against Romania at Wrexham on Wednesday well aware that victory will book Brian Flynn's team a place in November's play-offs.

Prepared

"On Sunday against Villa I was told three minutes prior to kick-off that I was playing, but I was prepared," said Evans.

"You have to be (prepared), even in the warm-up, for any emergency, and that is what happened.

"But working with (City boss) Mark Hughes I have a lot of confidence and that follows on from having a good loan spell at Norwich last season.

"I have been doing well during training and all that has been building up to playing in the Premier League for Manchester City.

"Of course I enjoyed the experience, if not the result, but now I am looking forward to the game on Wednesday for the U21s."
