Manchester City have opened contract talks with young stars Joe Hart and Daniel Sturridge.

City have already handed long term deals to the likes of Micah Richards, Nedum Onuoha and Michael Johnson in the last 12 months.

Now manager Mark Hughes is looking to tie down his goalkeeper and top striking prospect.

"We are in early negotiations with both players and their representatives," confirmed Hughes.

19-year-old Sturridge, linked with Chelsea, is a product of the club's famed academy and has stated in the last week his desire to remain at Eastlands.

Goalkeeper Hart, 21, arrived at the club in 2001 from Shrewsbury Town and has quickly established himself as number one.

One of the brightest keeping prospects in England, he has already been capped by Fabio Capello.
