Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook has engaged in discussions with Kaka's advisors on a night when AC Milan supporters lined the streets to protest a potential sale.

Passions in the Italian city are running high as the Rossoneri faithful made clear their vehement opposition to the proposed exit of the San Siro's favourite son.

Sky Sports News understands Cook met Kaka's father Bosco Leite to discuss a transfer that would net Milan over £100million and the player a weekly wage in the region of £500,000.

Earlier on Monday it had been reported Milan club president and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi met with club vice-president Adriano Galliani to discuss the implications of any such deal.

Over 1,000 supporters, who are critical of the club and not the player, converged outside Milan's headquarters during the early evening before moving on to Kaka's exclusive compound where he resides.

The Milan supporters proceeded to chant songs, pleading with the Brazilian to stay. Kaka responded by coming out on to his balcony and waving to his fans.
