Didier Drogba's agent claims he is in talks with Manchester City over a £20million move for the Chelsea star.

The move comes somewhat out of the blue as City's primary target was thought to be Inter Milan starlet Mario Balotelli, who has been heavily linked with a move to Eastlands.

Drogba is a Premier League seasoned veteran having scored 84 league goals in 133 starts and 33 substitute appearances for the Londoners since 2004.

The Ivory Coast striker's agent Thierno Seydi now claims that with the talented marksman nearing the back end of his career that the prospect of one final lucrative contract could be too tempting to resist.

Surprise

"Today, he is at Chelsea but there might be some surprises before August 31," Seydi told French radio station Radio Monte Carlo.

"The only direct contact I had was with Manchester City. But for now we stick with the status quo.

"We listen to everyone but Didier leaving Chelsea is not an easy task because everything is there for him to do well.

Seydi added: "He is 32 and open to everything. At his age, I cannot ignore the financial aspect."

City have attempted to play down the story, stating they have no interest in signing Drogba and that any report linking the club with the striker is untrue, according to the club's director of communications Vicky Kloss.

"We can categorically state we have no interest in signing Didier Drogba and any suggestion of an approach is entirely without foundation," she was quoted as saying in The Times.

Not sure giving ¿20m to a direct rival (hopefully) for a 32-year-old would be very wise. Or even slightly wise.

Every close season we hear that Drogba, is leaving Chelsea; this is down to the agent, who is only after a cut of a wages increase or improved contract, following speculation. City will find that even if they become sucessful this season, next season all their favourites will be reported as wanting out...this will be rubbish and down to the players' agents wanting improved contracts, so they fuel speculation to the press, who will lap up the lies.
