Shechenko: Kiev threat
Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany admits they will need to keep Andriy Shevchenko quiet in Thursday's clash with Dynamo Kiev if they want to progress in the Europa League.
Shevchenko scored the opening goal in Kiev's 2-0 win over City in the first leg of their last 16 encounter in Ukraine.
Kompany is wary of the threat posed by the former Chelsea man and he will be looking to subdue him at Eastlands as City look to overcome the first-leg deficit.
"Shevchenko seemed to be leading by example," said Kompany.
"He was not just captain because of what he achieved in the past, he was one of the best players in their team."
SurpriseKompany admits Kiev surprised Roberto Mancini's men with their counter-attacking tactics.
"They caught us by surprise last week," added Kompany.
"We knew they were a good team and we knew their strengths and weaknesses.
"But it was an away game in Ukraine. The conditions are very different and there was a lot of travelling.
"You have to adapt to that for a start. When you go onto the pitch, you don't know exactly how it is going to be.
"They did their job very well and we were unfortunate to have a bad day.
"But if nothing else, it will give everyone a good game to watch tomorrow because there will be plenty of stuff happening, I am sure of it."
