Shay Given is reserving judgement on ex-Manchester City team-mate Carlos Tevez until the outcome of the investigation into whether he refused to play.

Argentina international Tevez has been suspended by City after apparently refusing to come off the substitutes' bench during the 2-0 UEFA Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich last week.

Tevez is now back in Argentina, however, he refused to talk to the waiting reporters after landing in Buenos Aires.

Given knows the striker well following their time together at Eastlands and feels Tevez is in the wrong if it is proved that he actually refused to play.

"I don't know, there are always two sides to every story," commented Given on the Tevez controversy.

"I think he's wrong if it is true what has happened, but you need to wait and see what the full outcome is going to be."

Given is in line to start for Republic of Ireland in their crucial Euro 2012 qualifiers against Andorra and Armenia in the coming week.

A six-point haul could see the nation top Group B, although the Aston Villa keeper insists the squad will not be taking Andorra lightly.

Ireland claimed a goalless draw at Russia last time out and while Andorra are considered minnows, Given says the squad is focused on success.

"We're all excited about the games coming up. We've got to stay focused on Friday night first and foremost, that's the most important game," he continued.

"We're training hard for that and hopefully we can get the right result.

"It was a great result in Russia. It's a huge game in Andorra. There's pressure on us for different reasons. We've got to take that on board and hopefully get the three points.

"We've got to prepare as though it's Russia away. It's a huge game. There's the same amount of points at stake. We need to grab a few goals and cause problems for Andorra.

"It'll be a difficult game. They've come on in recent years. We've got to be focused on our job. We've got to be patient and hopefully we can create chances and take them.

"Hopefully if we can get six points then, worst-case, we're in the play-offs, which would be great as well, but we'd love to top the group."
