Shawky: New Boro signing
Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Egyptian international Mohamed Shawky.
The 25-year-old impressed Boro boss Gareth Southgate after joining on trial last week.
Shawky has penned a three-year deal at the Riverside after Boro agreed terms with his previous club Al Ahly.
Boro will pay £650,000 for the versatile midfielder, who joins fellow countryman Mido at The Riverside.
Southgate freed up room in his squad to sign Shawky by allowing Jason Euell to leave on a free transfer.
The Jamaican international, who joined Boro just 12-months ago, has wasted little time in securing his future as he has signed a two-year deal with Championship outfit Southampton.
Meanwhile, Boro have also handed a trial to former Everton and Newcastle defender Alessandro Pistone.
