Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is hoping Robert Huth will be fit to make his first-team comeback before the end of November.

Huth has missed Boro's last six Premier League matches after suffering torn ankle ligaments in a training session at the end of September.

He is expected to resume full training later this week, but will not be considered for Saturday's game against Everton at Goodison Park.

However, Southgate believes the Germany international could be involved in the home matches against Bolton and North East rivals Newcastle.

Eased back in

"We're hoping to have Robert back soon," Southgate told the Evening Gazette.

"He was playing very well for us before he was injured and he is not a player we want to be without.

"But we'll give him the chance to ease his way back in gradually and won't be ready to travel to Everton.

"It's always good to see injured players come back and the main benefit for us is that we have a healthy bench.

"It increases our options and means that we can make an impression from the bench."
