Coventry boss Chris Coleman has confirmed Middlesbrough's interest in striker Leon Best.

Boro have expressed an interest in the Republic of Ireland international, who is out of contract in the summer.

The 23-year-old appears unlikely to pen a new deal at the Ricoh Arena and Boro are hoping to lure him away this month.

Coleman, although acknowledging the interest from the North East, insists they are yet to make a firm offer.

"I have not had one offer, not one bid," Coleman told the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

And Coleman admitted Coventry need to have a replacement in mind, in case Best does leave.

"They [Middlesbrough] are obviously interested in him so we have got to be pro-active and say, right, let's get our ducks in a row and say this could happen.

"And let's be honest here, if it doesn't happen now he is going to go in the summer because he is not going to sign a new contract with us.

"So let's make sure we get someone in before we get one out."
