Lawrie Sanchez is standing by his decision to bring players with experience of English football to Fulham this summer.

Since being confirmed as Fulham's permanent manager, Sanchez has opted for a policy of recruiting players from the Premier League and Football League.

He has brought in four players who he worked with at Northern Ireland - Chris Baird, David Healy, Aaron Hughes and Steven Davis - and has also added Diomansy Kamara and Paul Konchesky to the mix.

With The Cottagers having battled against relegation last season, Sanchez is keen to avoid encountering any problems with the language barrier or culture change.

"I said the policy this summer would be to sign players who knew what English football was about," Sanchez told The Sun.

"You don't want somebody who has a language problem or needs to settle in.

"The Northern Ireland players I have signed - David Healy, Steven Davis, Aaron Hughes and Chris Baird - have been the cornerstone of what we did together at international level.

"Added to that we have Kamara, who played at two other English clubs, and Konchesky, who played for England."
