Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has revealed he is in discussions with the club over a contract extension.

The Cottagers boss, who has previously managed Blackburn, Inter Milan and the Finland national side in a 33-year coaching career, joined the West London club in December 2007 and has enjoyed relative success since his arrival.

He took over a team that was struggling in the Premier League and looked certainties for relegation, but in a miraculous turnaround they managed to avoid the drop after picking up 12 points in their last five games.

Hodgson then took Fulham to seventh place during the 2008/09 campaign, securing the club's highest ever league finish and a place in the Europa League, and admits he is keen to sign a new deal.

"It's something that has been discussed over a period of time," he said.

"The club have been keen to organise a contract for me to stay longer, and I am not averse to the idea.

"I hope something will be sorted out in the near future, because they are keen to get something done.

"I have been treated magnificently by the Fulham fans and everyone at Fulham. It has been a really good two years - I like the club and the fans and feel it has been reciprocated."

Fulham's next game after the two-week international break is a Premier League trip to the Midlands to face Birmingham City.
