Wigan boss Steve Bruce insists he will not make any rash decisions in the January transfer window.

The player market opens again on Tuesday and Bruce has been linked with a number of targets.

Bruce has played down talk that he could make several changes at The JJB Stadium and claims he is happy the squad at his disposal.

"Make no mistake I won't just be diving into the transfer market just for the sake of it," Bruce told Sky Sports News.

Nucleus

"I have got a nucleus of a decent squad of players here. The physio tells me everyone is fit this morning and that includes (Emile) Heskey, that includes (Jason) Koumas.

"If there is somebody out there, and it is difficult in January, that can enhance us and help the squad then I will try and do it."

Bruce is expecting to be busy in January with rival clubs targeting some of his squad.

"You don't really want to lose players but I am sure the phone will start ringing like everyone else," added Bruce.

"We are all badgering away, looking at different options so we will see what the next four weeks bring."
