Edman injured at Ewood Park
Wigan defender Erik Edman has been ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.
The Latics fear Edman has suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament after being stretchered off during Wigan's 3-1 defeat to Blackburn on Saturday.
The Swedish international sustained the injury when falling awkwardly on his leg after a clash of heads with Rovers striker Jason Roberts.
Latics boss Steve Bruce has ruled Edman out of Wigan's last seven games of the season and fears he could be out as long as October.
"I think the Edman injury has affected us really badly, he has been rock solid since he has come and when he went off we lost that balance," Bruce told the club's official website.
"It looks as though he has ruptured a cruciate ligament which will be diagnosed within 24 hours and he could be out until October."
If Edman's worst fears are confirmed it will mean he misses this summer's Euro 2008 finals for Sweden.

Wigan striker Antoine Sibierski says his team-mates will not roll over and allow Man Utd to win the title on Sunday.
Steve Bruce believes he can eclipse the expectations of Dave Whelan and secure a European place.
Steve Bruce has rejected claims his side will 'roll over' against Manchester United on Sunday.
Manchester United's mission this weekend is simple: win at Wigan and secure the Premier League title.
Manchester United and Chelsea fight for the title, while two of Birmingham, Reading and Fulham will go down.
