Wigan Athletic full back Erik Edman feels he is on the road to recovery after playing an hour for the reserves on Tuesday.

The game was the Swedish international's second run-out since he sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury back in March.

The 30 year-old reported feeling much better in this game as he attempts to get back to the first team.

Much better

Edman told TT: "It really feels positive - much better this time. I felt more relaxed with the ball. Additionally, we won 2-1 despite that Everton had several A team players.

"I need to be fully fit to be able to add something for Wigan."

The defender had a failed outing three weeks ago.

"It was too early for me then, it didn't feel well at all," he added.

Feeling comfortable

"The display itself was not important, it was a matter of feeling comfortable to play football again."

The full-back moved to Wigan in January in 2008 and played just five games for the club before sustaining his injury.

He has been praised for his diligence throughout his rehabilitation.
