Wigan midfielder Michael Brown is determined to keep his place in the Latics' starting XI as they prepare to face Arsenal at the Emirates.

Brown has had a frustrating season to date and before his recent run in the side was restricted to five appearances off the bench in the Premier League.

But the 31-year-old has enjoyed a turn of fortunes in the past few weeks.

The midfielder has started Wigan's last two games as the club recorded back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since manager Steve Bruce took over.

Brown is hoping this can help him keep his place in the side for Saturday's game at Arsenal.

"It is a fabulous place to play your football. These are the types of games you remember when you finish your career," Brown enthused.

"Playing in front of 60,000 fans is a great experience. When you pack it in, you will be wishing you could still be playing in stadiums like these.

"I am enjoying myself again as well after coming back into the team for the last two games.

Difficult

"That has been pleasing because when you are a pro you just want to play. Hopefully I will get many more games before the end of the season."

Despite looking forward to the game, Brown is under no illusions of how hard the match will be.

"They will think they have a sniff of the title again and will be keen to get the points at home," he continued.

"While we know it will be tough we have a bit of confidence about ourselves as we are now on a decent points tally.

"However we are all aware of how few points separate a number of clubs, I do not think I have seen a table this tight."

Bruce is another who is looking forward to the challenge of facing the Gunners and insists this is why he is in management.

He said: "What we must have is belief because teams like Arsenal do not lose many games.

"This is the enjoyable part of the Premier League, wondering if we can go and give a good performance against a top side.

"We have done it before but we will need to play to our maximum if we are to take anything out of the game."
