Kinnear: happy blue year?
Happy New Year from everyone at FanZone!
There's just something about the change in the year that breeds optimism of new beginnings.
For most of us, the year starts with a chance to try and make a change for the better (or sometimes worse) and our FanZoners are no different.
As soon as the bubbles died in the champagne of New Years Eve, they were already looking ahead to 2009 and making promises of their own.
So with the FA Cup giving us a week off FanZone and once our men on the mic had sobered up, we thought we'd share some of the resolutions being made.
We wonder how many of them will be broken in the booth this year...
Ali May (Arsenal)
My New Year's Resolution will be to relax and book my flights to Rome for the Champions League final to watch my beloved Arsenal lift the big one. I will also try my best to cheer on Adebayor in the hope it will inspire him and me.
Pete Davis (Liverpool)
For a Liverpool fan it isn't hard as the main resolution we will be sticking to is no more draws at home. With already 4 draws at home this all season, all versus very beatable opposition, this is something we are going to put right in the new year in our surge for the league title...especially with the news of El Nino back from injury.
Dean Johns (Portsmouth)
My New Year's resolution is to not start dreaming of visits to new grounds in the lower leagues until at least our relegation is confirmed. Or... I will try and stop switching channels whenever Redknapp and his family advert comes on advertising Wii! Or... I will start a campaign to get Noe Paramot voted as Pompey's best-ever signing. Or... My New Year's resolution is to see Niko Kranjcar actually put in a decent performance for 90minutes and justify this superb footballer tag he has somehow accrued.
Richard Cracknell (Spurs)
My resolution is to stop laughing at West Ham so much, and appreciate that such a two-bob little team are really doing well for the size of them.
Malcolm Bamford (Newcastle)
My New Year's resolutions for 2009 are: Find Joe Kinnear's swear box and spend the 30million quid on a creative central midfielder. Get a Toon tattoo, maybe Shola on my ankle (classy). Sing the new 'Guttierrez' song everywhere I go until it sticks in everyone's head. It's going to sound great at the Cup Final in May.
Benedict Pirraglia (Blackburn)
Not to resort to beer and a pie at half-time if we're losing! We'll come out on top when the final whistle blows!
Micky Houghton (Everton)
My New Year's resolution for my team is, to hope that the Spanish national manager takes a trip over Stanley Park and understands there are two teams in Liverpool, and call the little Spanish magician Mikel Arteta into his squad.
Mike Roby (Wigan)
My New Year's resolution is to pray every night before I go to bed that Bolton go down - and never come back up!
Javier Mitchell (Chelsea)
A selection of resolutions for me are: I will try to give up my love of Liverpool Bashing. I will stop asking Hammers fans which 'tion' is coming first? Relegation or Administration. I will try harder to acknowledge Fulham as local rivals.
Mark Currie (West Brom)
To attempt to stop disliking our chairman so much for his penny pinching ways and lack of general support to our manager. Oh, and to stop drooling every time Natalie Sawyer is on Sky Sports News.
Darren Briggs (Man Utd)
My New Year's resolution is to try to be nice to Scousers. But I can see it failing in the first week.
Colin Chaston (West Ham)
Now I have more spare time I plan to follow West Ham around Europe in my old caravan when we qualify for the UEFA Cup, either through our league position or the FA Cup. If we don't qualify I'll give a £100 to a charity chosen by the FanZone rep of the team that pips us.
What resolutions would YOU make for you or your football team for the New Year? Fill in the feedback form below and we'll print the best of 'em...

Craig Roomes (West Ham United fan) says...
Im going to stop giving spurs a hard time. If its not they cant pick a decent manager thats getting them down its that they spend millions on a striker who simply couldnt make Derbys team!

As a manu fan, my new years resolution will be to watch all manchester united home matches (which will be easy as i have a season ticket)!!!

Harry Redknapp (West Ham United fan) says...
Re: Richard Cracknell (Spurs), new years resolution should be to lay off the Med's. Has he forgotten that west ham do currently lie five points above spurs, and that in actual fact, no one likes his team. Talk about a two-bob club, he probably still thinks spurs are going to finish fourth.
