Crusat: Keen on English move
Albert Crusat has admitted the idea of playing in the Premier League does appeal to him as reports suggest Wigan have increased their offer to Almeria.
According to stories in the Spanish press, Wigan tabled a bid for the 27-year-old winger last week.
It is understood the figure of around €3million (£2.5m) was rejected by Almeria but the Latics have now returned with a €5million proposal.
Crusat enjoyed a tremendous 2008/9 campaign with Almeria and was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the summer.
Wigan now appear to be leading the chase for Crusat's signature with new manager Roberto Martinez, an expert on Spanish football, rating him highly.
He is believed to view Crusat as a like-for-like replacement for Antonio Valencia, who is expected to complete a transfer to Manchester United.
Crusat is under contract at Almeria until 2011 but concedes he would welcome the chance to ply his trade in England.
"If the club think that my exit could be interesting in terms of money then for me there is no problem," said Crusat.
"The Premier League is a competition that is very attractive for a player.
"To learn the English language will not be a problem."
