Coventry City are believed on the brink of confirming the signing of Malta international Michael Mifsud.

The striker has been linked with a whole host of clubs, both in the Premiership and the Championship, but reports in Norway suggest that Micky Adams has won the race for his signature.

Coventry have been long term suitors of Mifsud and had a bid for the forward turned down by Lillestrom over the summer.

However, after scoring 11 goals in 19 games in the Tippeligaen, Mifsud is now available on a free transfer after seeing his contract with the Norwegian side expire.

Reports suggest that The Sky Blues could even wrap up Mifsud's signing on Tuesday to give another option to their under-fire manager.

Sheffield United were strongly linked with the striker in December but The Ricoh Arena now appears to be his destination in England.
