Sheffield United have invited Glen Little for a trial after the veteran winger was released by Portsmouth.

Little was among five players not offered new contracts by Pompey, but has quickly earned the chance to secure a move to Bramall Lane.

He will spend the next fortnight training with the Championship club and is also set to join the Blades for a pre-season trip to Malta.

"Glen is going to be spending some time with us and we'll see how things go," Blades boss Kevin Blackwell told the Sheffield Star.

"He'll be coming in with the rest of the lads and then he'll be coming abroad with us too."

Little joined Pompey on a one-year contract from Reading last summer, but made just five Premier League appearances before returning to his former club on loan.

Blackwell is clearly keen to improve his wide options after bringing in Kyel Reid from West Ham United and also lining up a deal for Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe.
