Danny Wilson admits Sheffield United have exceeded his expectations so far this season but he hopes they inspire other teams to challenge.

The Blades have recorded five wins and a draw in their opening six games, leaving them joint-top of the table with MK Dons on 16 points.

That haul has been a pleasant surprise for Wilson, and he told the Sheffield Star: "Personally, I always look at seasons in blocks of six matches. We've surpassed the number of points we wanted from them and I'm not going to deny it.

"But being honest, all that does is make our task even harder now. Teams are going to look at the start we've had an become doubly determined to stop us in our tracks.

"It is still quite early days but obviously we are pleased with the start we've made. That does not mean it's going to get easier though or that we can start to take our foot off the pedal, we can't."
