Skysports.com understands Sheffield United are poised to sign Reading defender Marcus Williams on loan.
Blades boss Danny Wilson has lined up a move for the full-back as he looks to bolster his defensive options.
Williams has found himself out of favour at Reading this season and has yet to feature for the Royals.
The 25-year-old has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Scunthorpe in the summer of 2010 and he had spells on loan at Peterborough and Scunthorpe last term.
Royals boss Brian McDermott is willing to loan out Williams with the recent arrival of Joseph Mills pushing him further down the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium.
