Yorkshire-born defender Marcus Williams is happy to be back home following his loan move to Sheffield United.

The 25-year-old has joined the Blades on a one-month deal from Reading after finding first-team football with the Royals difficult to come by.

Williams is pleased to have moved closer to his Doncaster roots and is already hoping to stay beyond the initial month.

He told the Blades' official website: "For me it is nice to be back home and living locally. It has been difficult moving away and I think I played my best football at Scunthorpe when I had the support of my family and friends.

"If a player is happy off the pitch he often performs better on it and that is to be expected really. At the moment I am just going to take each game as it comes and do my best for the team, whilst trying to enjoy my football again."
