Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson has dismissed reports linking the club with Scottish midfielder Mark Fotheringham.

The former Dundee United and Norwich man was thought to be joining the League One high-flyers on trial having left Cypriot outfit Anorthosis.

However, Wilson told that has never been the case, but admitted that he is keeping an open mind for new recruits.

"I'm not sure where that came from because he has never been at this club on trial, so he isn't on my radar at the moment," he said.

"I've seen it a few times already this season that in a blink of an eye you can be struggling with a few injuries, so we are always looking to bring players in, but it has got to be at the right time from our point of view."

The Blades face a difficult run of fixtures in October with Charlton, Preston, MK Dons and local rivals Sheffield Wednesday all to come within a four-week period, but Wilson insists that his main concern is Saturday's trip to struggling Wycombe.

"We will go down there with great respect and we know how much success they've had at home over a period of time," he said.

"We won't take them lightly whatsoever and they might not be having the best run of form in terms of results, but they are more than capable of pulling one out of the hat.

"They will see us as a good one to win for confidence and we've got to be respectful to that and approach it like any other big game.

"I've not even looked at the fixtures in October if I'm honest because I'm solely concentrating on the Wycombe game at the moment.

"I've got a tough test there first and when those games come around I'll put all my efforts into them, but I can't say I've given them much thought yet as we aren't looking any further forward than the game in front of us."
