Perry in limbo

Perry in limbo

Former Charlton defender Chris Perry admits that being without a club or a contract is a new situation for him.

The 33-year-old was not offered fresh terms by new Charlton manager Iain Dowie and told Sky Sports News that his plans for the future remain uncertain.

"It's a funny situation for me to be in, to be honest," he revealed.

"It's the first time I've ever been in this situation and I've always known what date I'm starting pre-season, where it's going to be, that sort of thing and it's difficult for me.

"There's been some anxious times I have to say."

The ex-Tottenham centre back does not have an agent and the PFA are acting as representatives for him to help secure a contract with a new club.

"I have to be open to offers from everywhere, to be honest," he added. "I can't really pick and choose. I'll have to see what's out there and, if an offer comes along that's really good and really appealing, we'll move definitely.

"There's been some interest from other clubs at the moment. Obviously I don't want to mention other clubs but we're talking to a few clubs at the moment and hopefully something will come soon."
