Charlton Athletic midfielder Zheng Zhi may miss the Olympic Games due to a back injury.

The China international was expected to be a key figure in the hosts' squad for next month's Olympics in Beijing.

However, the 27-year-old is suffering from a back complaint which could lead to him sitting out the tournament.

China's Olympic team coach Ratomir Dujkovic said: "Zheng Zhi is China's best player.

"If he can't play for the Olympic side, it will be a severe loss for China."

Zheng was a prominent member of the Charlton side last season and Addicks boss Alan Pardew will be hoping it is not a serious injury.
