Charlton's Therry Racon has been hit with the news he could be out for up to three months after breaking a bone in his foot.

The French midfielder suffered the injury to his fifth metatarsal during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Watford and will undergo surgery to insert a plate in his foot.

Racon had earned a starting berth for the Addicks' first two league games of the new campaign after an impressive pre-season.

The 24-year-old was sent on loan to Brighton last season after arriving at the Valley on a four-year deal from Guingamp in the summer of 2007.

Veteran Matt Holland came on for Racon at Vicarage Road and will be vying with Jose Semedo, Jonjo Shelvey and Josh Wright to replace the Frenchman in the starting line-up.
