Johnnie Jackson is keen to impress during his loan spell at Charlton Athletic in the hope of earning an extended stay at The Valley.

The 27-year-old joined the Addicks on a month's loan from Notts County last week and has been used at left-back following Grant Basey's season-ending injury.

Usually a midfielder, Jackson has a further two years to run on his Magpies contract, with the League Two club insisting financial reasons were not behind his move to Charlton.

Jackson has made two appearances for Phil Parkinson's side to date and is waiting to see if the Addicks boss will look to retain his services.

Great club

He told the South London Press: "In an ideal world Charlton is a great club and it's a place where I would like to play my football.

"Being a London boy, it's a great club for me to be at and I was delighted when the chance to come here arose.

"I've been given an opportunity and it's up to me to impress the people here and to show that I can be an asset.

"But I don't know whether Charlton will be in a position to do anything at the end of the 28 days, so for now all I can do is concentrate on playing."
