Watford could be without striker Danny Webber until next year after he dislocated his shoulder.
Webber injured his shoulder after falling during Tuesday's match at Gillingham and Watford have confirmed that it was dislocated.
The former Manchester United man has been in fine form since the start of the season and has banged in nine goals for The Hornets.
Vicarage Road boss Ray Lewington will now have to cope without the talented marksman, and he says it will be a big test for his squad.
"This is the test and it's where the bigger clubs can cope with their larger squads," Lewington told the club website.
"What I will say is that the youngsters who've come in and the players on the fringe haven't let us down, so it won't affect team spirit.
"We knew it was going to happen at some stage this season and it's an opportunity for players to come in. I've been delighted so far in that every time I've had to make a change the players who have come in have been fantastic."
