St Mirren have confirmed that midfielders Andy Dorman and Stephen McGinn are stalling on signing extended contracts.

The pair are both out of contract at the end of the season and have been linked with a move to Championship side Watford.

Hornets boss Malky MacKay, who has Scott Severin and Don Cowie among his ranks, has already dispatched scouts to run the rule over the Scottish pair.

Chairman Stewart Gilmour has confirmed the club have held talks with the players' representatives about extended deals, although they are currently in no rush to put pen-to-paper on fresh terms.

"We have spoken to the agents of both players about the possibility of signing new contracts but they are keeping their options open, which is perfectly understandable," Gilmour told the Paisley Daily Express.

Injury blow

Dorman may well have played his last game for the club should St Mirren look to strike a cut-price deal for his services when the January transfer window opens.

The former New England Revolution midfielder damaged his hamstring in last weekend's 3-1 defeat to Celtic and is set to be out of action until the New Year.

"Andy's had a slight hamstring tear and will be out for four to six weeks," confirmed manager Gus McPherson.

"It's a blow because we don't have the biggest squad, especially when you lose someone who is a quality attacking midfield player."
