West Bromwich Albion moved back into the Championship promotion places following a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The Baggies knew that avoiding defeat at The Hawthorns would have taken them above Nottingham Forest and back into second.

And Roberto Di Matteo's side secured maximum points with Robert Koren firing home with just 11 minutes remaining.

Swansea City further cemented their play-off hopes with a 1-0 win at Watford.

Finnish veteran Shefki Kuqi's goal on 18 minutes won it for the Welsh side.

Cardiff, though, could not make it two wins in-a-row as Ipswich claimed a 2-0 victory at Portman Road.

Goals either side of the break from Daryl Murphy gave Town the win, which takes them four-points clear of the relegation zone.

A mid-table battle at Deepdale saw Preston draw 1-1 with Doncaster Rovers.

Finally, bottom-of-the-table Peterborough United - who are already relegated according to their boss Jim Gannon - grabbed a 1-0 win over Sheffield United.
