Skysports.com understands Watford are poised to sign Scunthorpe defender David Mirfin.

Mirfin is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Scunthorpe.

The central defender is believed to have agreed a two-year deal at Vicarage Road after undergoing a medical.

Mirfin is set to become new Watford boss Sean Dyche's first signing since taking charge of the club.
