Watford boss Sean Dyche was delighted to see his side win for the first time this season after the 2-0 victory at Reading.

Goals from Mark Yeates and John Eustace, one in each half, helped the Hornets condemn Reading to a 2-0 defeat at the Madjeski Stadium, their fourth loss in a row in the Championship.

Dyche believes his side can now move on from their opening win after a tough start to the campaign.

"At last the monkey's off our back," declared Dyche.

"I thought we were very thorough in our performance levels today and we got what we deserved which we haven't done so far this season.

"We work hard as a group and the players are very responsive to what we do.

"It's important the players believe in what they do and in what the managers and coaches do.

"Our back five were excellent today. We have bags of honesty and there was plenty of effort.

"We have believed in our performance levels despite the results. I think they have been decent this season so far and our players think they have been decent as well.

"There's been no unease and they believe in what they do."

Bad day

Reading manager Brian McDermott admitted it was a day to forget for his side.

"It was a bad day and that's ruined our weekend and the fans' weekend," noted McDermott.

"All we can do now is try to put it right next week against Doncaster.

"The result and the performance was not what we thought we would get and needed. We just had bits and bobs in the first half.

"We conceded from two set-plays and did not create too many chances. We have to move on very quickly."

Adam Le Fondre, Kaspars Gorkss and Joseph Mills were all making their home debuts for the Royals.

"Adam didn't get too much service. He needs balls in the box," added McDermott

"Gorkss worked really hard and you can see he is a warrior and Mills is bedding in well.

"I am just looking at the group now and trying to mould it. We are not looking like a team at the moment.

"We have to work on that very quickly. We played a certain way with players that have gone and now we have to find the best way of playing with the players we have got."
